I am like any other girl in her 20s, a sensible one maybe. I have a stable job that pays me decently. I have a bunch of best friends who are like me family away from home. I have supportive parents who have always been with me through thick and thin by bearing with my. I have a place of my own that makes me feel comfortable and cosy. I crave for the good things in my life, like trendy clothes, stylish accessories, bestseller books and footwear. But there’s a slight problem. My love for these things does not fit in my house, as I don’t have enough space to store all my stuff. While I was brooding over this one fine day, a friend of mine gave me a wonderful idea, and I shall be forever grateful to her for that – an almirah that could store everything from clothes to shoes.
Not that I never had a wardrobes at my place. I had one, but the amount of shopping I did with my salary became a nuisance because of lack of storage space. So this was my only way out, as I am also a hoarder. Yes, I can’t throw stuff. Why should I? Every piece of clothing or an accessory has a memory related to it, which was difficult to let go. So instead, I decided to buy an almirah that wouldn’t force me to throw away anything. Now all that was left for me to do was choose one that would meet all my requirements.
First, I was under the impression that I might have to spare some time and energy to go to the store, and look at the designs. But thankfully, with so many shopping apps these days, I could browse through the store sitting at my home. However, I still bothered to look at a few things, which made me buy the perfect almirahs .
Material
With different materials like iron, steel and wood, I was in a fix as to which one to go for. However, after putting in a serious thought to it, I opted for a wooden almirah, oak to be exact. I had cherry and hickory as popular options as well, but I went ahead with oak because of their high durability and sturdiness. Also, it went well with the overall décor of my home.
Design
When I had to choose the design, I had a choice between framed or frameless, basic, mid-level or customised and smooth or rugged finishing. While the framed one had a charm of its own, the frameless ones had a contemporary appeal to them. So I chose the latter one. As for the design, I chose a mid-level almirah, which housed spacious storage compartments and stylish fixtures. And choosing the finishing was a taxing affair with options like heirlooming, colour cast, distressing or glazed ones. So I went ahead with a distressing one to add a nice touch to my place.
Now you can buy almirahs online from shopping portals. I did my bit by adding one to my home, and it’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
